Great place to relax and enjoy the quiet
First came to resort in 1962, had old log cabins no hot water, my Dad had a 1960 Crownline runabout which we brought and enjoyed fishing,plus the big sandy beach ( the Best on Leech Lake). I also remember my cousins getting leeches on them screaming to get them pulled-off.At that time two old Swedish brothers owned the place and used an old WWII 6X6 truck to put boats in and out of the lake. For many years old 16 foot wooden boats 6 or 8 of them were moored off the beach about 40 yards I guessed they had been rentals back in the 50's.It was a great fishing and swimming resort, last time I visited was about 1986 and at that time it was a trailer campground there was talk Condo's would be going up in the 90's. Coming down the long road off of Rt 2 and seeing the place always was a great feeling after the long 13 hour drive.I hope to bring my family up in the next year or so
The best sand beach you will find anywhere... You can walk out 300 feet and the water is only chest deep... If you are looking for a spa, and golf, this is NOT the place for you, but if you are looking for a great place to bring the kids, and do some fishing (you will need a boat) This is an awesome place to be... My family has been coming here for 60+ years, and I am so happy to be able to share it with my kids now

My Great Grandparents, Ame and Skeet Miller owned Noth Star from about 1955 to 1967. Grandpa's brother Warren lived there for some time as well. Unfortunately, they were not Swedish. The Lake does not change and it is great for fishing. North Star has become more of an RV camp and homestead for the current owner's family. There is no Harbor for boats. If you a just imto fishing, its great. If you want to walk the beach, you can't go far. The owner's family put a barrier up so no one gan get very far. The only place to walk is the 2.5 mile narrow road.
